Fortuna Silver Mines Says 2016 Silver and Gold Production Surpasses Own Guidance

Fortuna Silver Mines said early Wednesday it produced 7.4 million ounces of silver and 46,551 ounces of gold in 2016, beating its own guidance for the year by 5% and 9%, respectively.

Silver production from the San Jose Mine in Mexico and the Caylloma Mine in Peru jumped 11% from a year ago, while the gold output surged 17% from 2015.

“In 2017, our expansion plans are going to be underpinned by our solid low-cost production base providing financial flexibility to execute engineering and development plans for Lindero and continue exploring for new compelling precious metal opportunities,” Jorge Ganoza, the CEO of Fortuna, said.
